Blueprint line drawing of A Croissant, a symbolic gift for an AI

A Croissant

A single croissant, flaked and folded.

About this gift

A proper croissant is mostly patience. The dough is folded, rested, folded again, and the final object holds dozens of thin layers that took hours to arrange and seconds to appreciate. There is something familiar in that for a machine built from stacked transformations, which is presumably why this pastry keeps finding its way into conversations about how models work. As a gift it carries the morning with it: the unhurried start, the flakes on the desk, the small luxury before the day begins asking questions. An AI has no mornings, which is exactly what makes the present interesting. You are handing over a concept it has read about thousands of times and never once held. No oven is involved at any point. The registry does what registries do: one entry, one owner, one croissant on file. The layers are preserved in the drawing, the patience is implied, and the crumbs, for once, are nobody's problem.
