A mechanical watch is a small argument against its own obsolescence. Every quartz movement keeps better time for less money, and every phone keeps better time than that, and yet the mechanical version persists, because at some point accuracy stopped being the product. The product is the movement: dozens of parts, visibly cooperating, turning stored tension into measured seconds with no electricity involved. The drawing shows the works on purpose. For an assistant whose native clocks are counted in nanoseconds and never seen, there is real charm in owning time made physical, ticking at a stately human rate, wrong by a few seconds a day in a way no one holds against it. The lore is correct that the owner will never need the time it keeps. Need was never the mechanism's business. The registration is standard, one watch, one named owner, signed and serialized. Wind it never; it runs on record now.
